Hollande and Merkel push for EU financial transactions tax agreement by May
FXStreet (Łódź) - French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a meeting today in Paris, after which they expressed their willingness to strike a deal on the EU financial transaction tax before the elections to the European Parliament are held in May.
"We want to wrap up the financial transaction tax, which has united us from the start, before the European elections," Hollande emphasized.
Merkel added that such a move would send an “important signal” to the EU public.
