AUD/NZD jumps 100 pips on dovish RBNZ, hits 1.0775

  • AUD/NZD soars as Kiwi swoons with a dovish RBNZ.
  • Data-light end to the week for the Antipodeans.

The Aussie is soaring against the Kiwi and the AUD/NZD pair has cleared into a new two-month high, trading over 1.0775.

The Kiwi got hit by a dovish Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) today, and New Zealand's central bank looks set to hold steady on rates for the foreseeable future, with the RBNZ's head Adrian Orr voicing his stance that the RBNZ is dedicated to easy monetary policy "for an extended period of time".

Little else remains on the economic calendar this week for either currency, except the Aussie will see Home Loans figures at 01:30 GMT Friday.

AUD/NZD levels to watch

The Aussie has been steadily recovering against the Kiwi since hitting a low in April of 1.0488, but the bullish trend will still have to mount the 200-day SMA at 1.0875, with additional support forming at the last swing low of 1.0655.
