Tokyo Governor Koike: This is not a second coronavirus wave

While speaking at a news conference on Friday, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike said that the latest surge in the coronavirus cases in the capital is not a second virus wave, citing some experts.

He added that the state government may call for caution if there is a concern about a major outbreak.

Koike confirmed 54 new infections in the city today. The daily count in Tokyo topped 40 for the third straight day. Meanwhile, 82 cases of coronavirus infection were newly confirmed in Japan on Thursday.

Market reaction
