US stocks posts solid gains amid weak retail sales

FXStreet (San Francisco) - Wall Street closed Wednesday with solid gains as US July Retail sales sales data fueled the notion that the Fed won't need to raise interest rates soon. bio-tech and airlines rallied.

The Dow Jones rallied over 100 points in the American morning before to moderate gains. Then the DJIA closed 91.26 pts or 0.55% positive at 16,651.80.

The S&P 500 advanced 12.97 pts or 0.67% to finish at 1,946.72; while the Nasdaq posted 44.88 pts or 1.02% daily gain to 4,434.13.

AUD/USD boosted by poor US data - FXStreet

Valeria Bednarik, chief analyst at FXstreet explained that the AUD/USD stands above the 0.9300 figure, boosted by negative US data.
